Volcanoes National Park is located in northern Rwanda, bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The Volcanoes is home to over 600 mountain gorillas. The park is home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains, including Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga, and Sabyinyo.
Wildlife and Activities
Mountain Gorilla
Trekking: Volcanoes National Park is one of the few places in the world where you can see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. There are ten habituated gorilla groups in the park, and visitors can trek to see them.
Golden Monkey Trekking: The park is also home to a habituated group of golden monkeys, which can be trekked.
Hiking and Climbing: Visitors can hike to the summits of the volcanoes, including Karisimbi, the highest peak in the park.
Birdwatching: The park is home to over 200 bird species, including the Rwenzori turaco and the African harrier hawk.
